Farm Tour

This morning I woke up before 9am and put on a pot of coffee as well as my make-up. Normally weekends Hubby and I sleep in but today my parents offered to take me along with them on the farm tour so I didn't want to miss that. Fridays are the day my mom and I hang out but yesterday was rather busy with me baking all afternoon so mom and I just talked and watched The Munsters in between batches of cupcakes rather than going out somewhere fun. Today was our fun day.

::Warning::
Lots of photos, enjoy!
The first farm we visited was one I am very familiar with, Ripe City, an urban farm in Midtown. Ripe City is in my neck of the woods and in the summer I like to walk by it on my morning walks to see all the pretty flowers they grow along the road.
Their peppers were still booming but the farm looks a little sparse with the tomatoes in not being in season.
The chickens were lively and didn't want me taking photos of them.
The farm cat (kitten) was adorable and super friendly. It had the most adorable voice, more of a chirp and click rather than a meow.

The second farm we visited was Millstone Plantation, a real working farm originally built in the 1800s. It is 100+ acres of beautiful rolling hills overlooking a lake.

There were several potters demonstrating their skill and selling wares.
They had llamas, sheep, goats, and a donkey
There were weavers and spinners working from the wool of the animals on the farm.
My brooch is a bee and a wild flower, I picked it up from Salvation Army for $1.00. I wore it today since most of the farms sell honey as well as veggies.

I was bad last week and ordered some lipsticks from NYX while the wicked and macaroon colors were on sale, I also ordered one of their matte colors to get free shipping on my order. This is Indie Flick and I am totally in love, I like it just as much or even more than some of my more expensive lipsticks. Plus as a bonus it is nearly the same shade as my hair.

The third and last farm we visited was Orchard Pond. I really enjoyed seeing the different garden plots as well as the larger rows.
some gigantic persimmons
I love marigolds, they are so bright and happy
An owl decoy overlooks a family plot
Rows of old okra plants were left to bloom on the edge of the farm

I wish they had had some yellow squash for sale at the produce booth, I would have bought a bagful.

I stopped to take pictures of the beauty berries on the way out, they grow wild everywhere around here and are such a pretty purple color.

My mom and I bought eggplants, greens, and fresh ginger at the stand before leaving. I also splurged on a pound bottle of wildflower honey that had some comb, I am a honeycomb fiend.

Black Magic

Ooh, Halloween is getting so close! I can't wait to be out in the woods huddled around a fire listening to the owls and laughing with good friends. Until then we have a jam-packed weekend this week. We have a costume party to attend, two volleyball games, I'm hoping to take a day trip with my parents to some farms in several neighboring towns, watching our out of town football game and cooking dinner for family, and then WWE Hell in a Cell. I don't know if I'll have energy for it all but I'm going to give it a good try.
I've been working on a new granny square blanket this week. I'm going through what little yarn I have left, I have to get more soon, I'm out of almost all my most used colors. Last night I finished weaving in the ends and today I'll try to get them all joined. Looks like there is a marathon of Monster Quest on the conspiracy channel (H2) today which will keep me entertained while I join.
Yesterday evening I dragged Hubby out to take pictures of me in front of this mural. It is a very awkward location to take photos with a tripod since it is right off of a side street with no parking and no sidewalks so I needed another person to operate the camera. The building next to this one has a beautiful Alice in Wonderland theme, I will have to get pictures there soon too.
I adore this Old Navy dress that I thrifted a while back, I just wish it was a size down because it bags badly on me even with a belt. But I'm a sucker for black and white stripes so I love it anyway.
Outfit Details:
Earrings- made by a friend
Dress- Old Navy, thrifted
Belt/Bat Purse/Boots- The Other Side Vintage
Tights- We Love Colors

Make-up:
Eyes/Lips/Liner: e.l.f Wicked Beauty Book
Blush: e.l.f.
Brows: NYX Eyeshadow Trio
Lashes: Stila sample from Birchbox

The black lip gloss looked much more opaque in person, on the camera it caught more light and looked fairly transparent. I was super impressed with the shadow, I have bought much more expensive make-up that wasn't as pigmented.
My hair is so amazingly bright now I touched it up :)

Isn't it too dreamy?

Yesterday I did a test run on my Halloween costume. I really wanted to get some photos of it and I didn't think I would be able to get shots the night of the party. I'm super happy with the way it came out.

I'm Audrey Horne and I get what I want.
I'd like to thank my parents for letting me snap a few pics in their pine room.
It's hard to find Twin Peaks like backgrounds here in Florida.
I don't have a pair of classic styled red pumps so I went with my nude pair
Costume details:

Sweater- bought on eBay
Watch- vintage, found in a box of random old jewelry
Skirt- sale trunk at The Other Side Vintage
Saddle shoes- Payless
Pumps- Old

Make-up used to achieve my amazing Audrey look:

City Color HD Powder

Urban Decay Pulp Fiction palette, Righteous used on lids and up to the brow and Tyranny packed into crease then blended heavily

e.l.f. Blush Palette in light, I used the tan shade around hair line and along cheek bones

NYX Eye Trio (darkest shade) from Ipsy to shape and fill brows, I was pleased I got a little bit of an arch without looking too fake

Starlooks Pro Lux Longwear Eyeliner Pen to line top lid, I didn't add a flick because Audrey didn't wear bolder make-up till she was working at One Eyed Jacks

Stila HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara (from my Birchbox this month)

NYC Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in brown to give definition along bottom lashes and for the beauty mark

Hikari Lip Gloss in Salsa

I actually was so excited about this costume I almost dyed my hair back natural. I still may break down before the party but I love my orange.

You don't know what trouble is

I still had a few old cigarettes left from when I smoked. They are probably stale but they made for a good prop.
Maybe he'll realize I'm the woman of his dreams
When I bought this skirt I wasn't even thinking of Twin Peaks. I found it in a sale trunk at Other Side Vintage for $8! It had a few small moth holes that I darned with no trouble. It is 100% wool and made in Great Britain. It is a wrap style with buckles on both sides and has pleats along the back. I plan to wear it a lot this fall and winter, it is totally dreamy.
I prayed that you would come and you did
