For father's day I cooked for both my and my hubby's family. I made 3 lovely pizzas (pesto & eggplant, margarita, and artichoke/mushroom) and my mom made two salads and brownies. I made it a little easier by using pre-made sauces but spiced them up using herbs from our garden. I used our own tomatoes, purple basil, and eggplant for toppings, nothing beats fresh out of the garden.
This week has been rather boring. It has been hot, 90 plus every day and it even soared to 96 yesterday and that was without the heat index. Because of the weather I do admit I have been slacking off on my walks, I had cut back to 3 days a week but according to my current hip measurement I need to do a little bit more. I am trying to go back to 5 or 6 days a week but cutting down from 4 miles to 2 miles on 2 or 3 of the days. Lets face it, when it is 82 degrees in the morning and 72 percent humidity I think 2 miles is a good workout. I come home soaked everyday, no need to pay for something like hot yoga. I have been trying to up my water intake again, I had slacked in the cooler months. Hopefully I can sweat off these few extra inches soon.
Tuesday I was able to scrape up enough money to go to a little city pool. It felt great to just be in water, I didn't even feel like swimming, just lazily floating there like a hippo. I was only out for about an hour but I managed to get a touch of a sunburn. The sunburn has mostly calmed but now I have a fresh batch of freckles. Nothing wrong with freckles though, I always loved looking at my mom's when I was a child and wishing I could have some of my own.
Today I went out to lunch with my hubby and some friends so I took the opportunity to get some photos down town in the chain of parks. Normally I don't like shooting photos in such a busy area but I got there before the big lunch rush so there were only a few people in the parks.
Downtown Tallahassee is beautiful and full of southern charm. Low hanging branches of live oaks, spanish moss, brick paths, southern magnolias, the chain of parks stretches for 7 blocks through the busy downtown streets. My hubby and I used to have a downtown apartment and would walk/bike these parks every evening.
I've been waiting for it to be hot to break out this little dress. My mother in law picked up in a thrift shop in St. Augustine. It is a black and white polka dot retro styled dress with a sheer BUNNY overlay. The dress is made rather oddly and really wasn't make for much larger than a B chest (it has built in cups, kind of). Luckily for me the overlay can kind of hid this fact although I should have pulled it down more before taking pictures. It fits everywhere else and looks cute (and is covered with BUNNIES) so I can play around with it a little, it sure did feel great to wear on this hot, humid almost summer day. I got lots of compliments on my outfit today.

I got back in the car with a little time still left on the meter only to realize I didn't take off my sunglasses for any of the pictures. Oh well, I am just glad I got so many nice photos. I was afraid I wouldn't like any of them.
Until next time
