Flower Garden

My hubby snapped a few quick shots of my outfit this morning before we headed to the store to get new phones. We were in a rush because we wanted to get out of the store at a decent time.
It is really nice to have a new phone that works like it is supposed to. My old phone got a bad update from the carrier and we never could get it fixed back up and my hubby's phone started to melt the other day so we figured it was time.
I got to hang out a lot with my mom this week. The costume pattern arrived early and I couldn't wait to get working. We got both my Demeter and my hubby's Hephaestus finished in two days. I have a nice photo shoot planned but I can't share the photos until after the party.
I found this lovely Hell Bunny at The Other Side this week. It is quite tight on the bust and doesn't have any stretch but I was so sold on it it had to come home with me. I am enamored with the Victorian cream and rose print and all the cute tatted/crocheted trim. It makes me want to host a little girl's tea party.

I think when I rolled my ankle a few weeks ago it was a little worst than I thought. It is still swollen so I may need to take a trip to the doctor. I am no stranger to foot injuries and it is the same foot the last really bad one that left me unable to walk for several months.  To make things even more fun I have been under the weather the past few days too. Cross your fingers for me that it will pass with lots of sleep and broth. I would hate to be sick next week.

 On a lighter note:
One of my beautiful bunny babies was featured on Daily Bunny this week. Prepare to die from cute.

I Believe

This weekend I would have really liked to have gotten away and to have gone camping or something else fun. I nearly booked a spot at a nearby state park but I'm glad I didn't because the weather didn't end up being that great, high temps and pop-up thundershowers. My hubby and I just ended up staying home and doing stuff around the house during the day then went down to campus in the evening for a photo shoot.
We chose the Wescott area of campus, the beautiful fountain and architecture make it a great photo location.
I finally got to wear my red Marilyn inspired dress. I have always admired Marilyn. I share one physical trait with her, my height, I am 5' 5.5" as well.

I couldn't believe when I found this dress at Goodwill, I knew I couldn't leave without it. Marilyn inspired, red, perfect fit, it was meant to be.

Birds of a Feather

Today I got to hang out with Mom. We had a great lunch at a local sandwich shop, we split the Greek veggie melt. OMG, yum! It is a baguette liberally spread with herbed cream cheese and feta then loaded with fresh veggies and popped under heat just long enough to melt a slice of provolone on top.

Our mission today: Find sheets for upcoming toga party
Mission achieved: S rank

Okay maybe we didn't get a S rank yet as I have yet to make the togas. I am a bit of an over achiever and will be sewing decent costumes (waiting on the pattern to get here)  rather than just wrapping ourselves up like frat boys. I still will be using sheets because they are a great source of inexpensive fabric. The sheet section at goodwill was somewhat sparse today but I managed to find two lovely sheets, one for me and one for my hubby as well as a nice set of sheets for our bed. We opted for colors rather than white so I hope our togas will look good. I almost came home with one that had a lip print all over, I thought it would have made a funny Goddess of Love costume but I wanted costumes we could reuse for other events. Although if I had found a Disney's Hercules sheet I would have bought it in a heartbeat. I also lucked out by finding a pair of metallic gold gladiator sandals for $5, I will be wearing them to the party as well as all football/volleyball season (our team colors are garnet and gold).
I've had this little dress in my closet for sometime now. I wore it once this winter with teal tights but it has been just hanging there since. It is another hot day, around 95 so a short, lightweight dress was a must. I was going to pair it with a hat but I got lazy and just put my hair in a pony so I wouldn't have to mess with it.

I'm still not sure what to think of this hem line, it is kind of fun but at the same time with the pulled up areas it makes it really short. I wore bike shorts underneath just so I wouldn't accidentally flash anyone.

Bouncing Bunnies

For father's day I cooked for both my and my hubby's family. I made 3 lovely pizzas (pesto & eggplant, margarita, and artichoke/mushroom) and my mom made two salads and brownies. I made it a little easier by using pre-made sauces but spiced them up using herbs from our garden. I used our own tomatoes, purple basil, and eggplant for toppings, nothing beats fresh out of the garden.

This week has been rather boring. It has been hot, 90 plus every day and it even soared to 96 yesterday and that was without the heat index. Because of the weather I do admit I have been slacking off on my walks, I had cut back to 3 days a week but according to my current hip measurement I need to do a little bit more. I am trying to go back to 5 or 6 days a week but cutting down from 4 miles to 2 miles on 2 or 3 of the days. Lets face it, when it is 82 degrees in the morning and 72 percent humidity I think 2 miles is a good workout. I come home soaked everyday, no need to pay for something like hot yoga. I have been trying to up my water intake again, I had slacked in the cooler months. Hopefully I can sweat off these few extra inches soon.

Tuesday I was able to scrape up enough money to go to a little city pool. It felt great to just be in water, I didn't even feel like swimming, just lazily floating there like a hippo. I was only out for about an hour but I managed to get a touch of a sunburn. The sunburn has mostly calmed but now I have a fresh batch of freckles. Nothing wrong with freckles though, I always loved looking at my mom's when I was a child and wishing I could have some of my own.

Today I went out to lunch with my hubby and some friends so I took the opportunity to get some photos down town in the chain of parks. Normally I don't like shooting photos in such a busy area but I got there before the big lunch rush so there were only a few people in the parks.

Downtown Tallahassee is beautiful and full of southern charm. Low hanging branches of live oaks, spanish moss, brick paths, southern magnolias, the chain of parks stretches for 7 blocks through the busy downtown streets. My hubby and I used to have a downtown apartment and would walk/bike these parks every evening.

I've been waiting for it to be hot to break out this little dress. My mother in law picked up in a thrift shop in St. Augustine. It is a black and white polka dot retro styled dress with a sheer BUNNY overlay. The dress is made rather oddly and really wasn't make for much larger than a B chest (it has built in cups, kind of). Luckily for me the overlay can kind of hid this fact although I should have pulled it down more before taking pictures. It fits everywhere else and looks cute (and is covered with BUNNIES) so I can play around with it a little, it sure did feel great to wear on this hot, humid almost summer day. I got lots of compliments on my outfit today.

LOL, I call this a flamingo pose. I really don't know what I was thinking

I got back in the car with a little time still left on the meter only to realize I didn't take off my sunglasses for any of the pictures. Oh well, I am just glad I got so many nice photos. I was afraid I wouldn't like any of them.

Until next time
